A young man
discovers his passion
through writing.
His ideas,
his thoughts,
transposed into words
on paper.
His depth
of understanding
surprises himself
and others.
His ability
to impart
his knowledge
to others,
appreciated by them.
Yet,
there is
one drawback.
For the purists
of the English language,
his commits
several sins.
He intersperses
the plural
and singular form
of words.
Where he may refer
to the singular,
he does on occasions,
use the plural form.
This action
is a conscious choice,
his choice,
for they are,
his words.
Political correctness
in using the male
and female version
of many words
loses a lot of people
in its adoption.
What this man
writes about,
equally applies
to everyone.
The message
is not lost
by the misuse
of these words.
In fact,
it unusually enhances
the meaning,
for it embraces
everyone.
The purists
of the English language
may cry foul,
and refuse to read,
what he has written.
In truth,
it is they
who miss out,
for everyone
has a message
to tell.
It may be
the uniqueness
of the English language,
for many other languages
do not distinguish
between singular and plural.
Is his message
a lesson
in English language?
No,
it is
his expression
of what he feels,
observes,
and hears.
Ultimately,
it is your choice
whether you choose
to read his words,
or not.
For all of its advantages
the English language
does have its drawbacks.
Read on,
or close the book,
it is your choice!
