A welcome
is a beginning,
the start
of something new.

It can lead
to a lifelong friendship
or end
on the next word.

We often
take welcomes
for granted.

How many times
have you entered a shop
to be welcomed
by a shop assistant
looking the other way?

What about an assistant
who offers to help you
while still serving
a previous customer?

Are you sure
the person
will hear
or even understand
what you want?

A frown
at the start
of meeting someone
sets the tone
for what follows.

A genuine greeting
done with sincerity
startles you so much
you do not know
what to say.

In our ever increasing
hectic world,
the importance
of a welcome
is being lost.

Step aside
from your day,
look at how
you welcome others.

If,
like me,
you can do better,
make an undertaking
to change your ways.

A cheerful,
genuine and sincere
welcome
will brighten
everyone’s day.

A little brightness
a little happiness
will ensure
you achieve
the desired result.

It will change
your outlook,
it will lift
your spirits.

So be selfish,
think of yourself
and how you will feel.

With all
of these benefits,
your sincere welcome
will be appreciated.

Seek out
what you want
and spread
your welcome around.

Just may be,
others will
do the same.

Now that
would be
a great day!
