There are times
in our lives,
when we choose
to undertake
a project.
As we begin
the project,
nothing seems
to go right.
Every step
results in
no progress,
an error,
even
a step backwards.
Expletives
come to mind,
cursing,
lambasting ourselves
are likely.
Yet,
does any of them
achieve
anything?
Sadly,
while
we may hope
they do,
they do not.
So,
what can
we do
to change
the tide,
and
start
to make
progress?
This is where
the cup of tea principle
comes into play.
It is
a
simple principle.
It
involves
taking a break
from the project.
And
making
a cup of tea,
or
something similar,
(if you
do not like
tea).
The action
itself,
is not
as important,
as
the distraction
from the project.
For
while
we are making
our cup of tea.
Our minds
are still processing
our project dilemma
in the background.
If we share
our dilemma
with another,
over
our cups of tea.
Then
just maybe,
a different opinion
will spur
our next step.
So,
there it is
the cup of tea principle.
A distraction,
a refreshment,
a stepping aside
from the task
at hand.
For just
a moment,
and
progress
can follow.
Imagine that,
in order
to make
progress.
We need
to stop
what we are doing.
Bizarre,
illogical,
obscure,
yet,
it works!
Anyone
for
a cup of tea?
